Let's go!
Let's Go!
After spending three years at sea working on a six star luxury cruise ship and having the time of my life travelling the world, it's true what they say- all good things must come to an end. Although my job had the perk of waking up every day in a new place and I got to see the best sun rises and sunsets out there, I have always felt like the world is bursting with possibilities and I am one of those people that can't help but want to experience everything!
So, I felt satisfied enough with my experience of living at sea to be able to say that I had had enough. Of course, leaving my job wasn't easy because it wasn't just a job- it was my whole life! You see, there is more to working on a cruise ship than just working. It was where I eat every meal, slept every night, partied every other night (in the beginning), where I socialised, made friends and...where I fell in love. That's right! I met my girlfriend of two years at sea and we had the time of our lives together. Unfortunately, with her being from South Africa and myself being from the UK, there were logistical complications with our lives, preferences and schedules that we just could not resolve and now we have parted ways. And so for me, yes, many things have come to an end, but not without reason! It was a positive step to make to allow myself for new beginnings.
Now, you may be wondering what the new beginning is- why did I quit
my job and end my relationship?! Well, for the freedom of full time solo
travel. This is where my blog comes in. I am going on adventure and I
want you to come with me! The idea is to be able to travel long term
whilst working remotely as well as taking local work such as teaching,
conservation and farm work wherever I can! Aside from this general plan
though, I purposely haven't decided on any specific details of my
travels because I prefer to see where the wind takes me. The magical
thing about travelling is that you never know who you're going to meet,
what you're going to like or what possibilities may come your way. So
for that reason, I am just going to go where I please, when I please.
That's freedom right? That's the dream! That being said, of course I
have a starting point. It is...(drumroll)...the Amazon! I mean, why not
plonk yourself into things head first, that's totally sensible. Anyway,
that's where I chose and that is where I am! From here I am going to
explore the rest of South America, hitting every country and place of
interest possible, but like i said, I don't have any specific plans for
this trip, no itinery, no schedule, just ideas!
I can tell it's
going to be quite a journey. I have already learnt so much about myself,
the world itself and the do's and don'ts of travel, all aspects of
which I am eager to share with you if you will have me! These topics
will shape the foundation of my blog and I will also include some of my
other personal interests including photography, sustainability and human
impact and artisinal craft around the world.
So, here I am sharing my new adventure with you. Let's go!
